Description:

Family: Noctuidae, Subfamily: Noctuinae, Tribe: Noctuini (Dart Moths) Although "underwing" is in its name, it is not an underwing moth. TL: 30-35 mm. A common highly variable moth in its coloring. This one dark brown with bright orange underwings with black bands. Hosts: various grasses and low plants.

Habitat:

Old fields and gardens. Sometimes seen during the day. Mostly nocturnal and will come to light.

Notes:

Range: Widespread. Introduced from European species.
