Field Notes

Description:

Salamander was my guess but now I know better

approx. 6" long
Brown back and bright orange belly.

Habitat:

Northern oregon, backyard swimming pool

Notes:

After we removed the winter cover and drained the pool we found many of these critters amongst the green slim and pine needles.

Thanks Liam. this guy definitely had rough skin, and little known to me to be Poisonous, must have been my lucky day.

I agree with your ID. I don't think California newts occur that far north, and red-bellied newts are in coastal forests, mostly in California.
Not 100% confident on my ID suggestion, please someone confirm.
