Description:
Family: Erebidae, Subfamily: Arctiinae, Tribe: Arctiini (Tiger Moths) TL: 20-28 mm WS: 37-55 mm. A common tiger moth with peppery cream-colored FW boldly marked with irregular bands of semi-translucent spots between brown veins. Thorax has thick brown lateral stripes. Hosts: Deciduous trees including ash, elm, hickory and maple. Caterpillars can be a pest in great numbers.

Woodlands, meadows, fields and gardens

Spotted first one on June 3rd.
