Field Notes

Description:

Family: Erebidae, Subfamily: Arctiinae, Tribe: Arctiini. (Tiger Moths). TL: 24-33 mm. Female. Pale orange FW marked with faint brown lines and spots of varying intensity. Abdomen is orange with black dorsal spots. hosts: Deciduous trees and low plants including aster, birch, elm, maple and sunflower.

Habitat:

Woodlands, gardens, fields and meadows. Comes to light.

Notes:

An entomologist determined this a female.
