Field Notes

Description:

/////////// While the Italian Tree Cricket in germany has long time had its distribution boundary here in our Rheingau-region, it spreads since several years further and further to the north. Today it is also found at the Niederrhein (the part of the Rhein that crosses North Rhine-Westphalia). It needs lots of dry warmth, thus its home mainly was the Mediterranean region. But by now it also gains ground in northern territories - e.g. in Vienna it became one of the most numerous species of Orthoptera.
