Field Notes

Description:

Approximately 1 l/2-l 3/4" in length. Body is tan color with black and white banding. Antenna and legs have same black/white striping.

Habitat:

Backyard garden on butterfly bush.

Notes:

This interesting creature caught my eye as it left a leaf and grabbed onto a blossom of the butterfly bush. Several times as I watched, it went deep into the blossoms. It climbed the stalk of the blossoms to reach blossoms above. I did not see it fly and cannot tell if it has wings.

Thank you, that makes me lean towards Pselliopus cinctus more.
Jakubko, I called the color tan but it is more yellow-orange. It definitely is not a bright orange.
Please verify! P. barberi is similar, but usually a brighter orange.
