Field Notes

Description:

In my hike I found several of these Spiny lizard. I guess the most colorful ones are male and the darker ones are female. I have seen these with brighter colors but latter in the season.

They hide in the rocks in this oak and pine forest.

Thank you Scott for the correct ID and link. I can also add that these lizards only live in mountains.
Hi Luis, Sceloporus mucronatus apparently doesn't occur in San Luis Potosí. See http://maps.iucnredlist.org/map.html?id=64128 Cheers
Thank you iGo Sugiarto. I was wondering what the red spots were.
I thinks there are red mites hide at the lizard leg sheel. Nice spotting..
