Field Notes

Description:

This wildflower if characterized by by 3 inch flowers. The flowers are yellow ray florets which encircle a brown disc. The flowwers sit upon an 2 foot tall stem with alternate, mostly basal leaves.

Habitat:

On the edge of a sunny field, adjacent to a juniper. The flower is an isolated occurrence in this sparsely traveled area.

Notes:

Other common names for this plant include: brown-eyed Susan, brown Betty, gloriosa daisy, golden Jerusalem,[1][2] Poorland daisy, yellow daisy, and yellow ox-eye daisy
