Field Notes

Description:

This delightfully colored leaf beetle is more pale than the usual specimens. We know they overwinter as an adult and I suspect that being late in the season it might be a winter form.

Habitat:

I have found both forms numerous times on one large tree in a state park.

Notes:

Here is the brighter form

This species differs from gloriosa by having an annulus of yellow blotches on the postmedial half of the combined elytra.
