Field Notes

Description:

6 pictures showing the development of a Dragonfly's wings while going through metamorphosis.

Habitat:

Exposed aquatic vegetation on edge of pond.

Notes:

5+ other dragonflies were going through the same process within 10 feet of this individual. They've done this nearly every night for the past few weeks, usually going through metamorphosis between 9pm and 1am. After 1 am, the "new" dragonflies take flight. I even had a few land on me because they were attracted to my light - it's a pretty cool sight to see them all flying for the first time.
