Field Notes

Description:

This endemic bee from Madeira Islands Archipelago, was flying from flower to flower, in a beautiful and sunny summer day at Calheta, Madeira Island, Portugal.

Habitat:

Spotted on a small wall garden, near some wild vegetation, on a cliff at more than 400m of altitude.

Notes:

"Amegilla maderae (Apidae) is an interesting endemism of the Madeiran Islands archipelago. It is one of the most abundant bees in gardens, maybe being active all year round. It is a super-generalist pollinator visiting many plant species, e.g. Echium candicans, E. nervosum, E. plantagineum (Boraginaceae), Brassica sp., Cakile maritima (Brassicaceae), Galactites tomentosa, Cichorium endivia (Asteraceae), and Agapanthus praecox (Liliaceae)." - in "Terrestrial Artrhropods of Macaronesia - Biodiversity, Ecology and Evolution - 1st edition, 2010 - Editors Artur R. M. Serrano, Paulo A. V. Borges, Mário Boieiro and Pedro Oromí - Sociedade Portuguesa de Entomologia". Photos taken wijth a Fujifilm FinePix S7000.

I was doing it wrong. I did not read that part of the FAQ. I will take a few days to edit my spottings. Thanks, Malcolm.
@Sckel, please check our FAQs here http://www.projectnoah.org/faq they explain what we want to see in every field, as well as what we do not want to see. The reference links are for pointing to where the information is without having to copy it. Just imagine reading a mission report with 10,000 spottings and seeing eg, 100 copies each of 100 different wiki pages, it would drown out the information which is being looked for with what is totally irrelevant information.
I thought the description could be something from wikipedia.
Thank you monkey-mind and nana-puppet. Maybe this year you'll find one if you come! Good luck and enjoy your stay.
Wonderful spotting, I so hoped to find one... Nevertheless, I found some plants endemic on Madeira. Yes, it was a wonderful stay. I think I'll revisit this year... :)
Nice spotting ... nice composition.
Thank you for your guiding Malcolm WJ, I've corrected the information on this one too. And thank you again Luis Stevens.
Please do not put anything except the scientific name in that field. Also please to not advertise your website in the text fields, it is only permitted on your profile page. Copying of text from other websites is not permitted. The description should be what you saw, not what the books say. Also please state in the habitat field the actual habitat where you made the spotting.
