Field Notes

Description:

"Binomial name: Sympetrum rubicundulum"
I found this Dragonfly outside, flying around by my pond. After some research, Was able to find out this dragonfly is called 'Ruby Meadow Hawk'
The 'Ruby In its name is because of its Ruby color and tinted wings.
It normally is only 1.3 inches in length.

Habitat:

This Dragonfly is usually found near open areas or Meadows with ponds or large patch of water. This is because the water has bugs that are like feeding grounds for the dragonfly. Also, Can normally be found Spring to Early Fall.
This Dragonfly can be found almost anywhere from the Great Pains and across Main in the U.S.

Notes:

This Dragonfly can also be also be mistaken very easily for the 'Cherry-faced Meadow Hawk' since they are very close in similarity. So close that you would need a Microscope to tell the difference between the two dragonflies. So in this case, This Dragonfly could also be the 'Cherry-face meadow Hawk'.
