Canada Goose
Branta canadensis
34.06, -84.68
Field Notes
Description:
It may look like dinosaurs crossed this mudflat, but it was just Canada Geese. Heron are also common in the area, but their tracks would clearly shoe the fourth backward-pointing toe. The geese also have fourth toes, but they are raised and seldom leave tracks.
Habitat:
Just about anywhere near lakes, rivers, ponds, or other small or large bodies of water, and in yards, park lawns, and farm fields.
Notes:
Spotted in a dried puddle near the swim beach at Cauble Park on Acworth Lake.
