Field Notes

Description:

Tradescantia sp. (spiderwort). There are nine species of spiderwort in Florida. In Orange County there are three species which are T. fluminensis, T. ohiensis, and T. roseoleus. Still could be one of the others due to transplant or having a wider range not yet recorded.

Habitat:

Suburban neighborhood next to a pine forest.

Picture was taken in Orlando, FL.

Agree with you on spiderwort, Tradescantia sp. If you're the curious type (like me!) you might narrowing it down by what sp. the USDA says occur in your area, and then compare your sighting to the botanical notes on those to find a match.
