Field Notes

Description:

Diptera; Culicidae; Armigeres; Armigeres subalbatus (Coquillett, 1898). Mosquitoes, in general, are said to be the most deadly creatures on Planet Earth because the diseases they spread are responsible for more deaths than any other animal. This particular species, according to Wikipedia, is a vector for filarial worms which it passes on to humans. Not exactly my favourite creature.

Habitat:

This Mosquito was spotted, in our backyard, resting on a leaf of an Okra plant (Abelmoschus esculentus). Plant identification -

The presence of this species in Philippines is confirmed by this link -
