Description:
Largest wren in NA, the cactus wren is one of the most noticeable birds of the Sonoran desert. About 8.5 inches long, white/buff eye stripe. spotted back, adults more tawny coloured than the young shown here.
Habitat:
Lost Dutchman State Park, Arizona
Notes:
So interesting to watch this pair of cactus wrens feed their young. They were finding the food on the cactus itself and then coming over to put it in the beak of the young. It was too far away to see what they were eating. This photo is at 300mm and then cropped to the max but still can't see what they are eating!
