Description:

The Tropical leafwing is a brush-footed butterfly in the subfamily Charaxinae. The underside of wings mimics dead leaves and the upperside is orange with dark markings near the border. It has a wingspan of 57–78 mm (2.2–3.1 in). The larvae feed on Croton species.

Habitat:

Spotted along a shaded trail at the National Butterfly Center in Mission, Texas. Attracted to a log that has a banana paste that is applied by the N.B.C. to attract and observe insects.
