Field Notes

Description:

I found these neat mushrooms on a hike today. They are kind of a dark beige, with darker layers (growth rings??? I don't know!). They were probably about 3/4-2 inches each.

Habitat:

Found these in a nature reserve in southern California. The nature reserve was wooded, and some other animals/plants found there were poison ivy, hummingbirds, squirrels, and mourning doves. They basically were carpeting a two foot long log.

Thanks, I didn't think of that. I'll try and remember next time!
Pictures of the undersides of mushrooms helps a bunch when identifying for future reference.
