Field Notes

Description:

This tree grows 1.5 to 2.5 m in height, spreading to 4.6m in width at maturity. Young trees display upright oval growth, but the plants spread and mound with age.
The color of the flowers can vary between white and a lighter pink
After the flowers have fallen off around mid spring the plant grows big long green leaves

Habitat:

Native to Japan and also found in mountains. They are used to fill medium sized spaces in gardens

Notes:

Since they are a plant they make their own food.
Their branches can be used as a home for local birds
