Habitat:

I saw a couple of these warblers at the edge of a forest from a trail in northern New Hampshire.

Notes:

A bird of the deep forest, the Black-throated Blue Warbler breeds in the northeastern United States and southeastern Canada. On migration to its Caribbean wintering grounds it can be seen in a variety of habitats, including parks and gardens. (Cornell)

Thanks for the nice comments venusflytrap, shebebusynow and jamie. I'm using the Canon 500mm lens with the 1.4x teleconverter on the Canon 5D Mark 2 body, handheld. Jamie, glad to hear things did work out for you with the BT Blue this spring. They're great little birds.
These guys were so annoying to me this year! it seemed like whenever I didn't have my camera they would come three feet away from me! Eventually one did this while I had a camera. Thank goodness it would have been weird to go all spring without a black throated blue warbler photo.
Tom, you do a wonderful job with framing and clarity on these bird photos--worthy of a book! What size lens do you use? Do you use a tripod?
Thanks kd, the warblers are a nice group of little colorful birds that are just coming back from their winter grounds in the south.
A very smart looking bird in those crisp colours. Very nice!
