Green Mantidfly
Zeugomantispa minuta
22.1179, -101.014
Field Notes
Description:
I thought it was a green lacewing but it is really a small mantis with transparent wings. About 15 mm long. I tried to get closer but it flew away.
They get their name from their mantis-like appearance, as their spiny "raptorial" front legs are modified to catch small insect prey and are very similar to the front legs of mantids.
Habitat:
Semi desert.
