Description:

It is common butterfly found in all over the island from sea level to up to 6000 feet, even in the highest elevations especially in the wet zone throughout the year. They can be encountered in forest paths, rubber plantations, cultivated lands and home gardens.

The butterfly has a weak flight and stay close to the ground at most time. It settles down frequently on bushes with its wings partially open. Females are shy and more infrequent. Males are seen visiting damp patches on roads and paths close to wooded areas and forests. It is seen basking in the sun in the early mornings.
