Description:

Malacosoma species are notable for their caterpillars which are brightly coloured and form silken tents to regulate their temperature. Malacosoma neustria caterpillars are brown with blue, orange and white stripes. The adults are a fairly uniform brown. The larvae feed mainly on trees and shrubs from within their tents.
In Britain the flight period is from July to August.

Habitat:

The Lackey moth (Malacosoma neustria) is common across southern Britain and central Europe.

I couldn't believe this spotting appears to be the same as your other one: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/30944049 It appears to be a variable species with two distinct phenotypes. This is also known as the "Lackey Moth." Here is another photo: http://www.ecosociosystemes.fr/bombyx.html In that link, I am not sure if they elevated the subspecies Malacosoma neustria neustrium to species level or changed the gender form of the species Malacosoma neustria.
