Field Notes

Description:

Numerous very hairy buds on this large shrub. I noticed that they weren't thorny when I touched them -- they are this berry plant's glandular hairs.

Habitat:

Temperate forest.

Notes:

Introduced from East Asia, it produces tart, red, edible fruit.
