Field Notes

Description:

Spotted going up to the nest in the eaves of the house next door
12.5cm fully grown,extremely quick flyers
Around 500k breeding pairs in the UK although the pop: has fallen by 45% in the last 25yrs
A summer migrant to Britain which leaves between August and October and returns April/May

Habitat:

Feeds almost entirely on flying insects.
Nesting tends to be in colonies and they reuse or repair old nests. Two broods a season.
