Field Notes

Description:

Vespidae; Eumeninae; Rhynchium Spinola, 1806. Two species from the genus Rhynchium (R. atrissimum Vecht, 1968 and R. atrum Saussure, 1852), which are listed next to each other in Wikipedia, are so similar to the wasp shown here, that I have been unable to decide which one of the two is the closest match. So, as you can see, I have opted to settle for Rhynchium sp.

Habitat:

This Black Potter Wasp was spotted, in our backyard, on Fleshy-stem Bellflowers (Peracarpa carnosa).

Notes:

There is a distribution map in https://www.gbif.org/species/1327845..... (for the Genus Rhynchium) which shows the very strong presence of Rhynchium spp. in the Philippines.
