Description:

My mom found this on her squash plants. Could someone let me know what it is and if it should be allowed to stay in the garden? It is about one and a half inches long. Thanks!

It's the exuviae (exoskeletal remnant) of a cicada. You can tell your mom it's not a problem. :) Most cicadas aren't even around anymore.
