Field Notes

Description:

Large tall tree with shaggy bark, light gray.
Leaves pinnately compound & elliptical leaflets, stalkless, edges finely saw-toothed & hairy, green above & lighter below. Twigs brown/green & hairy.
Hickory nut rounded green turns brown.

Habitat:

Moist soil in small valley in mixed forest in Cushing Mem. Park in Canton, GA 30114.
