Field Notes

Description:

The Cyrano Darner is a mid-sized darner that resembles the Swamp Darner. It is somewhat smaller than Swamp Darner. In flight it can be distinguished by its flight pattern; Swamp flies a long looping patrol pattern while Cyrano patrols a very small area, 10 to 20 feet or so long. Also, the large, protubing frons (hence Cyrano) is visible in flight.
