Description:

Spotting #1000 :) I had really been wanting to find a Tree Frog that had 4 legs and a tail still, and I was walking around in a marsh one day and saw this guy jumping on top of the water so I grabbed him for some photos. Bonus though: he still has his tadpole mouth!

Habitat:

Marsh. He was returned to the water to grow into an adult tree frog after I took photos :) At Gus Engeling WMA.

Notes:

I personally think frogs are way cooler than people realize. Most of them have a tadpole stage, which they are mostly omnivores during. Then as they metamorphose into adults, not only do they grow legs and lose their tail, but they go from omnivores to carnivores. This requires their digestive system to completely change, which if you know anything about nutrition you know how hard this is!

Awesome sighting! Congratulations (again! ;-)) Ashley, my friend!
He looks like a little green gator. Great series, Ashley, and congrats on your SOTD.... and 1K pics.
Congratulations Ashley, not only is this cute little froglet your 1000th spotting, it has also earned you spotting of the day! Thank you for sharing this & your other great spottings, and for all your contributions to the community. Spotting of the day: No longer a tadpole but not quite a frog, this little froglet still has his tail and has yet to develop its adult mouth. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10153011839915603&set=a.10152383557885603.943728.10150120463815603&type=1 https://twitter.com/projectnoah/status/356248076308058116
