Field Notes

Description:

Furry black caterpillar found on the road near the edge of the forest (shown in the last photo).
He curled up tight when we picked him up. We moved him to a grassy area near our tent with an assortment of leaves to see what he might like to eat. Unfortunately I think a bird enjoyed him before he was able to have dinner. I have been unable to find a good caterpillar ID resource- any suggestions?
