Field Notes

Description:

Extremely camouflaged bird that doesn't move until you're practically on top of it, at which point it rockets into the air making a ruckus and gets very, very high into the sky. Then, it flaps in large circle after circle, continuing to make a ruckus of different sounds, until eventually it tires out and slowly flaps down in circles back to the ground. There might be many of them doing this alarm-circle in the sky at one time.

Habitat:

Spring fields with fresh seedlings

Notes:

Species ID Suggestions

Alauda gulgula
