Description:

Small. Speckled back. Yellow eyes.

Habitat:

Chilapata Forest is a dense forest near Jaldapara National Park in Dooars, Alipurduar district, West Bengal, India. This photo was taken inside the Chilapata Jungle Lodge which is located right where the jungle ends. This was shot in the morning. I saw this owl (or a similar one) the previous afternoon too...sitting very low down on a garden plant.
