Field Notes

Description:

small, immature caps less than pea-sized and up to 1 in. in diameter. tan at the center, darker-brown closer to the margin, with protruding hairs which are white close to the margin and darker near the center. gills white, cottony partial veil stuffed in caps near stalk tops. Stalk white.

Habitat:

emerging from the wood of a dead tree.

Notes:

notice the gelatinous, sheet-like fungus above and below the immature honeys
