Field Notes

Description:

Small finch. Males (pictured) are magenta to reddish pink on head, breast and rump with brown nape, brown streaked wings and brown streaked cream underside. Slight fork in brown tail.

Habitat:

Coastal woodland.

Notes:

This small bird is an eye catcher. At first "pink" bird grabbed my eye. This birds coloring is more pink stained and dark magenta then descriptive red. The tree in the pictures is a very busy bird tree in a non populated area.
