Description:

These butterflies are widespread and common throughout Britain and Ireland. The eyespots on the wing have single white pupils.

Habitat:

It is one of the UK's most widespread species, but many colonies have been lost due to agricultural intensification.

Notes:

The Meadow Brown is the most abundant butterfly species in many habitats.
