We catch them to see what's there. We do community surveys statewide (in Indiana), but sometimes we focus on certain species. My specialty is non-game species, but occasionally we catch game species like this one. Depending on what we're doing, sometimes we will weigh and measure the fish before releasing them. They're kept in live wells so they aren't killed in the process. :)
