Description:
Cheeky but cute little buggers! A bit bulkier and larger than the ubiquitous grey squirrel, these squirrels scampered about the banks of the Virgin River at the AMAZING Zion National Park, in Utah. I'm assuming the "variegatus" species name refers to the multi-colored look of the hair.
Habitat:
This fellow kept my mom company up by the observation lookout while the rest of us went a bit further down the trail. After finally convinced that my mom was not going to feed him (hey, a fella can hope, right?!?), he just sprawled out in the cool sand under a tree.
