Dice Snake
Natrix Tessellata
36.8873, 30.6771
Field Notes
Description:
It was less than a metre long and was slightly thicker than a finger.
I saw these snakes resting in the calm water where they usually catch small fish.
Habitat:
Small slow flowing river with rocks with some still areas.
Notes:
I've also seen it on land in a small cave like rocky area where it rests.
It is a nonvenomous snake and its natural defence mechanisms are feigning death and secreting a foul smelling liquid.
It had a squidgy feeling to it.
