Field Notes

Description:

A happy bird with an unhappy lumbricus...

Habitat:

Urban environment, at the lawn of the city hospital

Notes:

Depending on latitude, the Common Blackbird may be resident, partially migratory or fully migratory. Most of the Swedish blackbirds are moving in late September to early November to Western Europe, and will return in March to April. In southern and central Sweden, part of the population overwinters, especially those living near settlements. In Sweden, the blackbird used to be a shy forest bird with a distribution only in southern parts of the country, but in the early 1900s, it began to spread northward and became more and more common in parks, gardens, cities and around people, which has resulted in the is one of the best known birds in Sweden.
