Field Notes

Description:

This amusing line of bolete mushrooms were just young ones. There were 10 all up in a perfect line (following the artificial contour of a roadside ditch) Each about 300mm wide and all in good condition except for one which had suffered some larvae damage (beetle, or fly love this species)

Habitat:

Outer suburban roadside ditch.

Notes:

These can grow to 900mm wide under the right conditions but usually they get eaten by grubs before that stage... here's a big one I found last year http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/8509306
