Field Notes

Description:

This worm is reddish at the forward end transitioning to tan to cream color at the tail. This species has a collar like segment near the end of the forward third of the body. Adults range in size from a half to three-forths oh an inch.

Habitat:

moist soil, compost piles, and soils with good amounts of vegetable matter.

Notes:

This worm is also known as a Dew Worm and is very important for soil aeration in the soil.
