Field Notes
Description:
A grey moth about 35 mm long, with fine scales and a low forward- pointing crest on the head. The wings were held flat and had tan coloured veins. Outer wing margins were tooth-like with short tan hairs. Antennae were swept backwards and held under wings. Eyes were grey. Could not see mouth parts clearly.
Habitat:
Spotted near playground bordered by Eucalyptus trees - different species (spotted gum, ironbark,yellow box) and Melaleuca sp.
Found in the southern states of Australia.
Notes:
The larvae of these moths are said to feed on Eucalytous leaves. The adult moths wrap their fore wings around the object they are resting on for extra support.
