Field Notes

Description:

A "HEART SHAPED OWL FACE".. A unique peculiarity in this bird was the thin brown ring that encircled its large face, akin to a heart. The wings were brown in colour.

Habitat:

City of Mumbai.

Notes:

Rarely seen in the day. This owl was seen sitting on the second floor of a skyscraper building named "Pushpanjali" in Prabhadevi locality of Mumbai.Crows were pestering it and the bird just sat rooted on this A/c machine.Passersby including myself took photographs and also shewed away the crows.Bizzarely this large and beautiful bird was least affected by the human presence as well as the crows. It retaliated with its beak against a attacking crow.
