Field Notes

Description:

Family: Nymphalidae > Subfamily: Charaxinae > Tribe: Anaeini. This was the first time I had encountered a leafwing outside of the Charaxes at Butterfly Rainforest and the bright orange seen in flight first had me thinking it was just another Gulf Fritillary, despite how early in the year it was. Once it landed however, it was oblivious what is once but having said that it was still difficult to approach and in the years since I have not seen one there again.
