Description:

Bright green tree hopper with flange behind the eyes and black stripe down the dorsum.

Habitat:

Rural back yard attracted to light trap.

Antianthe is largely neotropical, I'd say this is Archasia belfragei. Great shot!
You are welcome Cindy! I think the word trap threw me for a bit at first too. Maybe we should just call it a light party for invertebrates ;-)

Thanks Cindy! There are several different ways to do one but since I am interested in just photographing them, I use the sheet method. You hang a white sheet outdoors, usually between 2 trees, but I just hang mine off my back deck since I just leave it for the season. Then you hang several UV black lights to attract the insects. I also use some halogen work lights that I turn on when I go to check the sheet, then turn off when I go away. I check about every 30 minutes to an hour depending on what else I am working on at the time. The insects are free to come and go as they will.
