Field Notes

Description:

This brick red bracket fungus was about 40 mm wide and about 5 mm thick and attached to wood by short dark stipe. The fertile surface ( underside) was white and covered by minute pores. The bracket caps were in-rolled. Flesh was cream coloured.

Habitat:

Spotted growing on a decaying fallen tree branch in a nature reserve.

Notes:

Much of this bracket looked eaten, damaged or dry. Will be looking for an ID.
