Description:

This small Checkered Beetle was voraciously feeding on Treehopper nymphs just as they were emerging from their eggs. Babies were hatching even as I watched! Since this beetle was only 4 mm in length, it only ate two before leaving the egg mass. Most species of Clerids are predaceous as both larvae and adults. Family Cleridae.

Habitat:

On a wall under a light, semi-rural residential area, San Cristobal de Las Casas, Chiapas, Mexico, 2,200 meters.
