Monomachid wasp (female)
Monomachus sp.
-25.4287, -49.2724
Field Notes
Description:
Hymenoptera, Proctotrupoidea, Monomachidae. From a paper by Celso Oliveira Azevedo and Hélio Sá Santos [Seasonality of Monomachus Klug (Hymenoptera, Monomachidae) in the Biological Reserve of Duas Bocas, Espírito Santo State, Brazil; Rev. Bras. Zool. vol.18 no.2; Curitiba, June 2001]: "Adults of monomachid wasps prefer cool, moist, forest habitats (NAUMANN 1985). Few biological data suggest that Monomachus is parasitoid of larva and pupa of Diptera, Stratiomyiidae (RIEK 1970)." And, according to the same paper, it seems that sightings of female wasps are very rare.
