The American name is Pied Avocet but throughout Europe it is known simply as Avocet. Like many birds these names often differ throughout the world but the scientific name is always the same and that is the one PN uses for the searches so it is acceptable for the Common name to be the one in use where the spotting was made and/or where the user is from.
